Around the time of Columbus. Late 1300's - early 1400's.
Who? Christopher Columbus? He was not the first to dicover America. Much earlier examples include the Native Americans and Leif Erikson, a viking who discovered America long before Colombus. Christopher Columbus just brought Europeans to America. He 'rediscovered' America, per se. He deserves credit for bring colonists to America, not discovering it.
Christopher Columbus sailed to America hoping for India. he took things from the native people without trade. he went to Africa and got people to bring back to England
Christopher Culumbus didn't set out to discover America he was on a trip to India to try and bring Gold back to spain, on this trip columbus proved that the world was round and very very large . :0
