Joel Schumaker was hired to take his place because "Batman Returns" was not well conceived.
"Batman Forever" and "Batman & Robin"- those two movies were both very terrible as they were portrayed as Saturday morning cartoons. Joel Schumaker obviously did not know the difference between that and live-action films. That is why the entire series has been rebooted and Christopher Nolan has been considered the godfather of comic book films.
