When he auditioned for Metallica, they loved his lead bass playing style and they offered him 1 million dollars on top of a percentage of the band's earnings. He is a Native American, and was born on October 23rd, 1964, in Santa Monica, California. He played in the bands Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves, Black Label Society, and with Jerry Cantrell and Ozzy Osbourne before joining Metallica.
