Why did Japan prepare for war with the US?

They wanted to attack Pearl Harbor again

The US entered World War 2 because?

The United States entered World War II on December 8, 1941, after the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. This action was in direct response to Japan's attack on American soil and the American people's desire to join the Allied Powers in their fight against the Axis Powers. The United States had been supplying the Allied Powers with resources, such as money and weapons, since the start of the war, but the attack on Pearl Harbor was an act of aggression that pushed the United States to officially enter the war.

Why did the US drop the atomic bombs?

Because Japan had attacked Pearl harbor & we were not ready for such an invasion such as that one & also because it was to slow the Japanese down from trying to attack the Us again.

Was the submarine attack on pearl harbor successful?

What was President Roosevelt implying when he said that this form of treachery shall never again endanger us?

This phrase appears in Roosevelt's day of infamy speech, made soon after the Pearl Harbor attack by the Japanese. The treachery referred to was Japan's. Even while planes were on their way to bomb the harbor, they were negotiating with the US and in no way indicated they were ready to attack the US.

Could Pearl Harbor happen again?

That depends on precisely what you mean by Pearl Harbor. If you mean a surprise attack by naval air forces of the Japanese specifically on the military facility at Pearl Harbor, then I think it highly unlikely. Even if Japan were mad at us right now, we have intelligence gathering devices today which would make a fleet of heavy warships centered on six aircraft carriers crossing the North Pacific look like a Saint Patrick's Day parade. On the other hand, if you just mean a surprise attack, they happen every day, for example in Iraq, with casualties - not as many as Pearl Harbor, which had well over 2000 killed - but one dead, whether American or Iraqi, is too many. And if you mean a surprise attack on the scale of Pearl Harbor, I think the attacks on the World Trade Center Towers and the Pentagon in 2001 qualify easily, with over 3000 dead and we never saw it coming.

Why did the US restrict the activities of Japanese Americans during World War 2?

The U.S. was afraid the Japenese would attack our country again like they did Pearl Harbor. So the U.S. basically overreacted and took anyone of Japenese decent and put them in camps, so they could be surveillanced.

Do people visit the Pearl Harbor?

Why was the US caught off guard at Pearl Harbor?

Because we had absolutely no reason to expect it. Michael Montagne You might want to read up a little on the history or Pearl Harbor. There was every reason to expect an attack was coming. The night before when "magic" intercepted a 14 point message to their diplomat Roosevelt declared "this means war". He predicted we would be at war before the next monday. Also before this, magic had intercepted and decoded many messages hinting at an attack at pear harbor. Look up the "bomb plot" information where spies were asked to divide the harbor into sections, label all ships when they were in port, when they berthed next to one another etc. There are many, many examples of hints of war. All you have to do is look it up.

What bomb was dropped on Pearl Harbor?

American battleships were bombed at Pearl Harbor. The main target for the Japanese forces were the American aircraft carriers but luckly for the Americans the aircraft carriers were out doing training so Japanese forces hit the battleships, airplanes landed at the airbase in Pearl Harbor. Five battleships were sunk, three light cruisers, three destroyers, three smaller vessels, 188 aircrafts were destoried. 2,335 servicemen were killed, 68 civilians were killed, 1,178 were wounded. asalman88

Is the conflict of the bombing of pearl harbor still in existence?

The attack has been studied from top to bottom, and then from bottom to top again over the half century. The only controversy existing now, is did the US know about it beforehand.
