Messiah means one anointed in holy oils. There have been many messiahs. All of the prophets were messiahs, some kings, and even some non-Jews. When people say 'The Messiah' they mean a future messiah who will be a decedent of King David who will fulfill all the requirements of the messiah. Since the Jewish Messiah has not yet been born, no, the future messiah is not the father of the Jews. Christians see the Messiah as Jesus and they also view Jesus as the son of God and God himself. Jews do not agree. Jews do not think the Messiah will be God or his son and Jews believe that the messiah has not come yet.
The word 'messiah' is the anglicisation of the Hebrew 'moshiach'. The word moshiach translates to 'anointed'. The title of moshiach was given to any person who was appropriately anointed with oil as part of their initiation to their service of HaShem. We have had many moshiachim (pl) in the form of kings, priests, prophets, and judges. There is absolutely nothing supernatural about a moshiach. There is a prophecy about a future moshiach, however, he'll be a mortal man who will lead the country of Israel.
To clarify the use of the phrase "son of God" in the Tanach (Jewish Bible). This phrase was not literal, it was used to indicate that the person in question had a unique relationship with HaShem, a prime example being Moses.
Jewish people believe that Jesus was a prophet, not the Messiah, and not the Son of God. They believe that the Messiah is still to come.
Jews call "the Messiah" as "the Messiah" or in Hebrew "HaMoshiach" (המשיח). However, as opposed to other religions, such as Christianity or Islam, Judaism does not believe that the Messiah has come yet and therefore is not identified with any person. For example, Jews don't believe that Jesus was the Messiah and, therefore, do not accept the Christian or Islamic claims that he was a God prophet or God/son of God.
Who Jesus Christ was... a good teacher/rabbi or the true son of God and Savior of the World Jews did not believe in Christ as the Messiah, the savior of the world. What they expect for a Messiah is a political messiah that would liberate them from the Romans at that time. They were just disappointed when they knew that Jesus is talking to another kind of saving the world.
Some Jews are Christians but most are not. It is because Christians believe that Jesus is the son of God, the Messiah, who died as the lamb of God, a sacrifice for all who believe. Jews do not believe this.
Rabbi, teacher, Son of God, the Messiah, ect.
Catholics believe that Jesus was the Messiah and the Son of God, as well as the fulfiller of the Jewish religion. Jews believe that Jesus was not the Messiah, and they are still waiting for the Messiah to come.
Some believed He was the Son of God, the Messiah. Others believed He was a prophet of God while others still believed He was an imposter.
Yes...Jews do not believe either.
I am not sure I understand the question, but Jews absolutely do worship and believe in God. Since Jesus was a Jew, it is certain that he too worshiped and believed in God. Jews are monotheists. They do not believe in any other deity, nor do they worship anyone except the One God, the same God that Jesus worshiped. But the word "Jew" refers to someone who believes in the Jewish religion. People who believe that Jesus was the messiah and the son of God are called Christians. Jews, while they respect their Christian friends and colleagues, do not believe Jesus was the messiah or the son of God. Jews believe the messiah has not yet been sent. Jews have some beliefs that are similar to Christians, but also many that are different. That said, Jews then and now have followed the teachings that were written in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament); these were also the teachings that Jesus often quoted.
The messiah
Such speculation is pointless, either you have faith and accept what he purportedly said of himself (that he was the Son of God, the Messiah) and you are therefore a Christian, or you don't believe this and therefore would not waste your time thinking about it.
Truly Christianity began in Judaism, but if you're asking why did they split up, it is because Christians believe Jesus is the Messiah, aka son of God, Jews claim that he is not.
