Just when it ends......that 2012 movie is freaking people out.
Actually, the Mayans did not predict the world would end in 2012. This has been a total misinterpretation as a result of two factors: the fact that the Mayan calendar simply ran out in 2012, and the discovery of a stone tablet, known as Monument Six. This stone tablet is especially significant because what is left of it contains the equivalent of the date 2012. The inscription on the tablet describes something that is supposed to occur in 2012 involving Bolon Yokte, a mysterious Mayan god associated with both war and creation. Although difficult to translate, the tablet suggests the wording that this god "... will descend from the sky."
It should be noted that other inscriptions found at various Mayan sites give dates that extend beyond 2012. According to archaeologists, one even roughly translates into the year 4772.
Yes, but their predictions are wrong.... only God knows when the world is going to end
The Mayans never mentioned Miley Cyrus.
AnswerThe Mayans did not predict the world would end. That recent belief has come about because of a mishmash of misunderstanding of the Mayan calendar, New Testament and Nostradamus. The proof of this will be on December 22nd 2012, when the sun will rise, the birds will sing and the prophets of doom will sheepishly look out their windows at a new day.
No, the belief that the world would end in 2012 was based on a misinterpretation of the Mayan calendar. The Mayans did not predict an apocalypse, but rather their calendar simply marked the end of one cycle and the beginning of another. Therefore, the world was not meant to end in 2012.
Well.....in a way they kinda did, the predicted that great birds would destroy a great city (birds-plains,great city-NY) i dont think that the world is gonna end tho
Maybe. Scientist found a calendar from the Mayans, and it is over hundreds of years old. The Mayans had a calendar and predictions about the world. Scientist discovered that the Mayans predicted that the world would end on 2012. Hundreds of years ago, the Mayans predicted that astronauts would land on the moon, and as many years passed by, we have astronauts that landed on the moon! So if their prediction was right, does this mean that their prediction of the world ending on 2012 is going to be true also?....

It was said that the world is going to end. it is not known, but from Mayan calenders, they say it will end the world on that day <-- THIS ANSWER S FAKE --> HERE IS THE REAL ONE. there is no need to worry the world will not end. reasons it wont #1. Mayans didn't predict it they predicted a religious thing #2. Nostradamus did not even predict anything about 2012 #3. sunspots didn't harm Earth much #4. In 2000 people thought that Satan would come out of a pyramid and kill everyone did it happen? NO did any of the other world ending happen? NO #5. Earth is hard to beat

The soothsayer predicted that the cyclops would be blinded, which did happen afterwards.
They never did, they are buildings. That's like saying the WTC could have been used to predict that 9/11 would happen. People make predictions.
The Aztecs didn't make predictions about 2012 (as far as I'm aware), the whole frenzy about 2012 is due to the Mayans, who predicted the end of the world during 2012. The Mayan calendar did not predict the end of the world, it was the end of the Mayan 'Great Cycle'. Had the Mayans still been around they would just have started another one. I agree
That the Germans would completely occupy it
The mayans had calanders one of which was called the longcount. something like every 1000 years (maybe a little bit less) the long count would go through a baktun which is like a year kind of. so 2012 will mark the end of the 13th baktun which is the end of the longcount calender. however it was people like the Spaniards then and the Americans now who said that since the calender is done it will be the end of days. but the mayans did not predict this. they have predictions for dates going as far as 4927A.D. so all in all it was not the mayans idea that the world would end but other cultures interpretation.
It is impossible to predict the distant future.
Nothing. Their calendar simply ended around this year.
NO!My Short Version First: There will be an allighment with the earth and something wierds gonna happen. My Long Version:The Myan calender said that it would be the end of human kind, in other words, the end of the world. Although they are one of the smartest people in the world, only God knows when the end of the world will be. Scientifically, NASA and other space company's predict that the earth will reach its 26,000th year and so there will be an allighment. They also predict the this allighment with the earth would create very wierd weather but its a cowinsident that also the Myans predict it will be the end of the world, so in that case something really wierd and big is going to happen. Or in other words somethings gonna happen. The last, same allighment was probrably before human race, possibly why dinosaurs were extinct? All though the Mayans are one of the smartest people in the world they are still humans! Only God knows the correct answers.
