Not yearly, but with some regularity. Since Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, attended kindergarten there, and graduated from High School there, he has longstanding ties to the region. Further, he has relatives, including a half-sister, who live there. According to newspaper reports, he and Michelle did visit Hawaii on a few occasions during the time before Mr. Obama was elected president. It was not yearly, however, as Barack and Michelle's work schedules, and the fact that they had small children, did not always permit a Christmas vacation.
