The Virginia plan represented a more radical departure from the Articles of Confederation. The Virginia plan called for a more national government instead of a confederate government. Also, the Virginia Plan, called for a double legislative body and an elected President. The Articles of Confederation asked for a loose confederation of Sovereignty states and a weak central government, leaving most of the power with state governments.
