Apollo Apollo is the son of Zeus, who was the high god, and the twin brother of the god Artemis. The god Apollo was known as the god of the future because he could tell the future. Apollo was considered very important even as important as the sun god. Unlike many of the other gods Apollo did not married of have any children. Although Apollo was the god of the Greeks the Romans still worshiped the same gods but they believed them to have different powers then the Romans did. Apollo was said to have been a musician and he was said to have played the lyre, an ancient string instruments. We also see Apollo in the book the Iliad as one of the gods that was worshiped by the Greeks. Throughout history we see many gods that have been worshiped but to the Greeks the god Apollo was very important. Colosseum The Colosseum was made during the reign of Vespanian in 69 AD. Before Vespanian there was Emperor Nero. Nero was one of the cruelest emperors and he was said to have taken care of only himself and therefore was killed. The new emperor, Vespanian wanted to teach everyone that he cared about them and was not going to let them down. When Nero was in power he built a great golden house to honor himself but when Vespanian cam to power he tore down the golden house and he took the land and made it a public park and later he decided to make a Colosseum for entertainment to the people. The Colosseum was one of the first buildings to be built with concrete, marble, and limestone and to have a dome and arches. The arches are also called Barrel arches but these arches are rarely used today. The Colosseum was made for entertainment such as the training of wild animals, and the fighting of men and to observe this they had seats that were made out of stone. In Rome it was not considered to be gruesome if a person was killed by an animal and if they were just injured they would still let you die. Many people recognize the Seven Wonders of the World and say that the Colosseum is one of them but is actuality the Colosseum is one of the seven wonders on of the medieval world.
