This could be debated, but to the best of my knowledge it ended at the start of the Renaissance around the 1600's.
The medici family facilitated the Renaissance as they had the wealth and power. They brought art and architecture, and introduced it to the people during the Medieval Period. This led to more knowledge which also led to the Renaissance. :)

The Renaissance in History has been called like this because of the return to the greek aesthetic that was seen as a rebirth in comparison with the medieval times where the greek and latin knowledge has been ignored.
