Did they have religious wars before Christ was born?

Obviously not. There were no religious wars before birth of christ. That's because there was only one religion. That was "Sanatana Dharma" now called Hinduism. All the world over was Sanatana Dharma which predates to 1.5+ million years ago with a famous epic story known as Ramayana.

Judaism originated very recently just few thousand years before birth of christ.

Then came Buddhism, which is a not much different from Hinduism.

Then Christianity.

Then Islam.

I'm not sure, but I guess so, as other religions, such as Islam and Judaism existed before Jesus was born. Jesus' assumed birth did certainly not make it any better, though, as this gives people another 'smokescreen' to hide their plain hatred of others and desire to make them to conform by violence. The people who were first called Christians were of course, not the perpetrators of violence but the recipients, as they followed the peaceful teachings of their master. As some Christians lost their way, they adopted secular and worldly ways of violence. _____________________________________________________________________________________

Religious wars in the BCE times did not exist. Judaism is an older religion [it is claimed that it is approximately 5000 years old] and the only that according to the Old Testament God requested his favoured people [the Jews] to exterminate their enemies with his assistance [Samson and Dalida, Goliath and David etc..]. Jesus Christ was the messiah of the Jews that they failed to recognise but he was accepted by the non Jew population basically because its message was given in the Greek language which was like today's English. Islam came at 622 by the Prophet Muhammad who asked those who believed in the word of Quran to spread the word by the sword [Jihad]. The segmentation of the Christian religion to Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants etc brought the necessity to expand religion and control religious masses which led to several wars within Europe. In the name of the God of Love and Jesus Christ repeated atrocities took place in the history of humanity destroying the American civilization [Native Americans, Aztecs, Incas, Mayas etc] when Europe met West. Even recently in the last century humanity fought two world wars over the control of resources and political power and the participants were in their majority Christians. It is strange that all the participating Christians prayed in the same God for his support and the victory of their troops [Germans, French, English, Italians and the Islamic Ottoman in the first WW]. The cost was over 70.000.000 dead people civilians and soldiers. Governments of people still continue the war policies and tactics although he who can think knows that war is not the solution of the problem and we will continue the same practice in the future as long as we keep to be short sighted. All the past empires of thousand of years are gone and no individual survived 100 or 120 years and of course all left empty pocket if not in debt.
