The only significant event during the war was a 1915 mutiny by the British Indian troops garrisoned in Singapore. After hearing rumours that they were to be sent off to the front, the soldiers revolted, killing their officers and several British civilians before being suppressed by troops arriving from Johor and Burma. Mutineers were then executed.

But Singapore was a large part during WWII

World War one affected Singapore as there was the Sepoy Mutiny. For example, in 1915, German Prisoners of war were spreading rumors to sepoy that the british were sending them to turkey to fight kill fellow muslims. The sepoys reacted by burning down houses along Alexandra road, causing death among people off all races, even though the sepoys were targeting Europeans. Singapore was affected by WW1 due to the presence of the German 'Emden' Warship. The Emden was shooting down both enemy warship and trading ships. By doing so, less trading ships were coming to Singapore to trade, this led to the economy going down. And there were less food supplies as Singapore could not depend on itself for food and had to depend on other countries.

Another factor of WW1that affected Singapore is the rising prices of food. As there was a war going on in Europe, locals felt that the war would come to Singapore. The locals then stocked up on their food supplies to ensure that they would have enough food when war came. Due to this, the food prices increased as there was a limited supply of food. HOPE THIS HELPED XD

It showed that Singapore is not invincible. The Natives view the British as weak and unworthy to lord over them. As a result, natives see that the British are not capable of governing their colonies. Hence, the idea of separation is brought about.
