dinosaurs :)
An extinct volcano.
The dinosaurs were going through dramatic climate change.
Most scientists believe that Yellowstone is not truly active and that they would be able to detect if the Yellowstone volcano was going to erupt years before it erupted. But there is no way to no for sure if the Yellowstone caldera is truly active (building up for an eruption).
Yeah, but who cares unless your kid is going to study to be a geologist.
No, because if they are extinct, that means that they are dead...gone...forever. Dinosaurs, for instance, are proved to be extinct, and they are not going to ever live again.
how can you tell if a volcano going to erupt
Not unless something very catastrophic happens. Sharks predate the dinosaurs in the fossil record so they're not going anywhere anytime soon.
ACTIVE! Ones that are sleeping but could erupt again are called DORMaNT! And ones that are never going to erupt again are called EXTINCT!
•Volcanoes are found in three different states-•Active which means: Erupted recently and expected to erupt again.•Dormant which is: A volcano which has not erupted in recorded history.•Extinct this means: A volcano which is never going to erupt again.
active is when the volcano is going to or is erupting. dormant is when the volcano is not erupted but is sleeping. extinct means that the volcano is dead and it will never erupt again.
The last magmatic eruption of Yellowstone was about 70,000 years ago while the last super eruption was about 640,000 years ago. We have no way of predicting when it will erupt again as, contrary to popular belief, it does not erupt at regular intervals.
