this is the consumer level graphics cards from the manufacturer Nvidia. These are meant for running games and normal, everyday applications like the internet. The other line nvidia makes is called the Quadro series which is a workstation call graphics card. these are made for doing complex calculations like 3D modeling
That depends on what you plan on doing. Gaming enthusiasts/hardcore gamers would go for mid to high range NVIDIA GeForce or ATI Radeon GPUs, professionals prefer the NVIDIA Quadro series, and if you're not either of those, a low-end GPU from the GeForce/Radeon series would do.

Short answer: Yes, but not as well as a GeForce of similar spec. Long answer: Quadro cards are designed for professional applications, such as CAD, Video Editing, 3D animation and renering, etc, and are typically more expensive than their GeForce counterparts. If you dont need a card for the aforementioned professional purposes, and just need a good gaming card, stick with the GeForce line, you will get much better results.
