The differential is essentially one link in the chain of components that transmit power from a car or truck's engine to the wheels. The differential transmits different amounts of power to the wheels at a right angle from the drive shaft to one of the car's axles. A locking differential will transmit the same amount of power to both wheels on the axle - which is very useful in 4WD applications where a truck might be stuck and have problems getting out of deep mud or snow. Limited slip and open differentials will allow the wheels to get varying amounts of power from the engine, affecting the amount of traction your wheels can attain. For instance if you are in a 4x4 truck and you are stuck on some rocks with one wheel in the air, an open differential senses that one wheel of the axle isn't getting much traction and will send more power to the wheel in the air, which is ineffective. But if you have a locker, it will apply the same amount of power to both and you'll be able to get free.
Differential lock is a driver controlled locking mechanism which locks the speed differentiation of axle halfshafts in differential mechanisms. After locking, both wheels rotate in same speed. But the interaxle differential(IAD) lockstopsthe speed differentiation of two axles in Tandem axle vehicles by locking the inter axle differential(third differential),after locking IAD both pinions rotate in same speed.
What is the difference between cw and steady at lock-on phase? I don't know.
There is no differential lock switch. If you want diff lock. You'll plug diff lock system on your car. And olsa it's not inculede switch
The SE-5 package has a limited slip differential but it doesn't fully lock.
clearly
GU6 is just in indicator of the differential ratio a gu6 is a 3.42:1 ratio. it could be single track, limited slip or gov lock. if it is gov lock you should also have a g80 code in your glove box. if so and you tow or have tall tires be ready to replace when master pin breaks
It's an open front differential if it is stock. So is the rear differential
Chevy uses lock washers. ;-)
Broken gears. The differential or ring gear or pinion gears are broken.
all
The actuator on the front differential may not be engaging to lock in the front axle. How can I fix it?
Differential Lock.
