SUBNET: subnet is a group of networks having same network id. subnet increase the number of hosts with same network address, as result it reduces the wastage of addresses.

In subnetting bits of hostId will be captured by networdId.

SUPERNET:

supernet makes all the hosts with in a range of network address belong to a same group. This reduces the entries in the network address table.

Supernetting combines the octets of the address.

In subnetting, a network is divided into several smaller subnetworks with each subnetwork having its own subnet address.

In supernetting , an organization can combine several class c blocks to create a larger range of address.

Why CIDR is called supernetting?

If you combine multiple classful networks it is supernetting, when you make them smaller you are subnetting . CIDR is a condition where you no longer consider the classful boundries. You no longer need to think of the words subnetting or supernetting really because everything is a simple division between network and host.

How is math used in computer networking?

In computer networking Math and binary operation are used in calculating subnet masks or in subnetting or in supernetting etc.

Breaking a network into smaller parts is called?

segmentation

How do devices interpret subnetting information if subnetting is used on a LAN?

Devices interpret subnetting information on a LAN by determining where the traffic originated and routing it to the appropriate area. By creating subnets, it is possible to have segregated areas of a network.

What is the aggregation of IP network addresses advertised as a single classless network address?

Supernetting

You might never want to use subnetting if?

There is no need to use subnetting if you have no wish to further divide up your network into smaller, logical networks.

What are the disadvantage of subnetting?

Loose of ip address

Does subnetting separate a network into multiple logical defined segments or subnets?

Yes. Subnetting separates a network into multiple logically defined segments, or subnets.

What is the difference between classless subnetting and classful subnetting?

CLSM (Constant Length sub net Mask). Whenever we are Using Same Sub net Mask in entire Organization, that architecture Is Called CLSM in the Network.VLSM (Variable Length Sub net mask) in the Network. Whenever we are Using different-different sub net Mask in entire Organization, that architecture Is Called VLSM.

What is the difference in a class a subnet mask and a class c?

The octets are different - a class a is 255.0.0.0 and a class C is 255.255.255.0 for a default subnet mask. Of course, if you are subnetting then this doesn't apply.

What is the smallest number of host bits that must be left in the host field when subnetting an IP address?

one number of host bits must be left when you doing subnetting.
