top down:
You formulate the problem and solve it inroducing simple operations, for instance, you need to add 2 numbers. This is your problem which you have to solve.
You devide it in simpler problems. Remember in computer memoty first additive, then second. And then add it to each other and show result or save in another variable and show the result.Top down approach is the most popular method in programming.
bottom up:
This method is more complicated because it's not easy to formulate simple problems and end up with a global problem. In most cases bottom up is reversed to top down approach.

∙ 17y agoHi, Top-Down programming is quite literally written from the top of a page down to the bottom, in logical order. It is a sequence that starts from very simple things and as it goes down, it gets more and more complicated. Charateristically, the things further down in the program depend on those above them. Ie. If you say "x+y", then before that you must declare firstly what x and y are (integers(1,2,3,...), charaters(a,b,c,...), etc..) and then assign them values. Bottom-Up programming is the opposite of this. You start with a result and then declare what each part is. I hope this is clear and has helped you.

Top down can be seen as a conventional management approach - senior managers frame strategy which is implemented by subordinates.
Bottom up works the other way -ideas are solicited from those at the coal face
and they also have a key role in implementing their own suggestions.

We outline the solution in broad, abstract, high-level terms, dividing the problem into smaller and smaller problems. With the bottom-up approach, we implement the low-level solutions which can then be combined to implement the higher-level solutions.
