1) Catholics pray in Latin, whereas Henry decreed that everyone should be able to pray in their native language. He thought learning a dead language for prayer was silly.

2) Henry was already the head of state/government and when he started the Church of England he made himself the head of the church as well. This was a huge issue for a lot of devout Catholics, who believed that only the Pope could be the head of the church, as he was placed their by God. As far as many devout Catholics were concerned, it was blasphemy.
