The procedure to do it is used when all transponder keys are lost or anti theft system doesn't recognize the key. It is done when cycling the key and pulling the emergency brake handle a certain number of times. The 01 civic 5 digit code that was given to my by Honda dealer was 6-3-2-6-3.
Start by turning the key on (engine off). wait for anti-theft indicator to flash for 2 seconds, pull the emerg brake handle up and down 6 times, the theft light should stay on now, turn key off, and back on, and repeat with 2nd digit (3), continue to repeat this until last digit entered. turn key off, theft light will flash 3 times slowly. now you can start car. this allows car to be started repeatedly for about 10 minutes. it will stay running as long as you want (to drive to dealer to get a new key and programming of new key performed).
After 10 minutes procedure can be repeated if necessary
