As the body ages so do the organs age and become less elastic, absorption is slowed down thus the intestines do not absorb nutrients the way they used. The appetite may also be affected a side effect of several medications that the aged person may be prescribed. Nothing in the body works the way it did at age 20yrs old everything slows down so as with nutrition the body just does not absorb the way it used to.
