Yes there is a difference in views.

Roman Catholic tradition add to what is in The Bible. Some Catholic teachings are that Mary was born sinless, was taken bodily into heaven, acts as a mediator between mankind and her son Jesus. Also that she remained a virgin all her life after the virgin birth of Jesus.

None of this is biblical and protestants regard these beliefs as manufactured for the benefit of the catholic church at best, and as heretical at worst. Protestants believe Mary was a sinner, the same as all mankind except for her son Jesus. That she had normal sexual relations and had other children, that nothing is known about her death or burial. And most importantly, that she and other catholic saints do not intercede on the behalf of christians prayers and that Christ alone is the intercessor for all of mankind.

Catholic AnswerOf course, Catholics believe that the Blessed Virgin Mary was given to them by Our Blessed Lord from the cross when He told all of us, represented by the apostle, John, "Behold your mother." We are to imitate Our Blessed Lord in all things, and He loved His mother above all people who ever lived, as He said through the Archangel Gabriel, "Blessed are you among women" and called her "full of grace". She was the only perfect disciple of her Blessed Son that ever lived, and as she, herself tells us in the Scriptures, "Do whatever He tells you." Our Blessed Lady prophesized of herself, in the Sacred Scriptures, "all generations will call be blessed." For God has done great things for her, and for us, through her. If it were not for Our Blessed Lady, Our Blessed Lord would not have entered the world, but through her all generations are blessed because she was humble enough to submit her will entirely to God, something everyone of us can learn from her.

.

All of the protestant founders, who left the Catholic Church, took with them a great love and respect for Our Blessed Lady, and Martin Luther, Calvin, and others all wrote about her with love, tenderness, and great devotion. As they, and their followers got further and further from Christianity, they necessarily lost this respect and love for God's mother, and thus modern day protestants have sadly veered far from their Blessed Savior and His love for His Mother.

Who worships Mary - Catholics or Protestants or Jews or Muslims?

Catholics are wrongly accused on a regular basis that they worship Mary. Catholics are always quick to say that this is not true. Protestants see the high honor that Catholics give Mary as idolatry. Catholics are not worshiping Mary by honoring her. They are just following Jesus' example are honoring his mother. No Catholic can give more honor to Mary than what Jesus gave to her.
