Sex was created by God for two specific purposes: the creation of new life, and the growth of the love between a married couple. Any sexual act outside of those two purposes is a sin, including the use of a condom. I think some Catholics disagree with the idea of contraception because they believe sex should be used to bring new life to the world and contraception prevents that.
