Now, if you are asking if the average Catholic-in-the-pew follows Bible principles, well then that brings up two different answers. First of all, all men are sinners, so no one is following Christian principles perfectly, save Our Blessed Lord, and His Mother. Second of all, if you believe that "Bible principles" are those principles followed by protestants, or any non-Catholic Christian, then you have a real problem. The Christian Church was based on Christ who founded His Church on St. Peter (please read St. Matthew's Gospel 16:17-19). As I said above, the Church wrote the New Testament, and determined which books made up the Bible and closed the canon at the Council of Rome in AD 382 (see link below). The Christian Church IS NOT BIBLE BASED, THE BIBLE IS CHURCH BASED. When Martin Luther started his own religion, he had to come up with something new, as Our Blessed Lord only - by His Own Sworn Testimony - started ONE Church and guaranteed that the Holy Spirit would guide it until the end of time. Catholics are trying to follow Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ. Some of the "principles" that He taught were put into the Bible as part of the Catholic Church's preaching, but not all of them.
.
So, now you have a bunch of non-Catholic religions that are "Bible-based" but 1) Christianity is NOT based on a book, and 2) the Bible that non-Catholic faiths use is a mutilated Scripture that Martin Luther made up (or re-wrote) according to his own beliefs.
.
In other words, Catholics follow Bible principles, but only because Bible principles follow Catholic teaching.
Yes, Catholics believe in God. They follow the same Bible as other Christians, along with some teachings and beliefs unique to their faith.
