I know someone from Iran. He says that in private places, women dress the same as American women. He also says the a lot of women in Iran are rebelling against the dress codes for women in public.
After the Iranian revolution in 1979 the mullah's came to power and introduced Islamic law's where women have to wear a Hejab (head scarf) or a veil and woman cannot where cosmetics. But of couse in a private area you can dress however you want.
Very good answer! Iranian women, according to religion are not allowed to show their beauty to anyone but their husband and those accepted for them. Also, of course in a private place with no men or with just their husbands. Women can too wear cosmetics they all do just not too much so you look like a clown and that will make men look at you.

Now I'm not saying your answers are wrong it's just, I've been to Iran a numerous amount of times, I grew up knowing the culture, I can speak the language, and most of my family is from Iran. When I went to Iran last summer, many girls in the streets wore a ton of makeup and they were barely following the "dress code" or whatever you'd like to call it. This wasn't just a few of the girls it was a lot. I knew some people like that. I'd never heard of the private places, but in their homes they did that.
The people there want to be free. They don't want people to tell them what to wear and all that other stuff. They want to be like the people like America, to have their rights like they did a long time ago. That is why the people in are Iran fighting, because they want their rights. Your answers were great but I just wanted to point something out. Thank You.

Iranian Ladies are the most intense users of cosmetics all over the world, maybe it's somehow exaggeration, but most ladies, specially in the capital city Tehran, they do lots of make-ups while even they're wandering up over the street, make-ups which in Europe and the United States ya can only figure that prostitutes come with !
but it's something regular for a girl who's even got Islamic attitude to do a heavy make-up on her face, I guess that's the most true answer. guessI'm talking about the experience, coz I do reside in Tehran, Iran. (My IP Address may be easily checked upon the claim I've made!)
Avon cosmetics does not have women selling their cosmetics door to door. Although, they did at one point.

Muslim women use "halal" cosmetics--ones that contain only ingredients acceptable to Muslim law. (Basically this means no pork fat, no gelatin--a lot of it is sourced from pork--and no alcohols.) In the Middle East, if you buy cosmetics they're going to be halal; it is a huge business over there. If you're in a non-Muslim country you can go to an Islamic market and find halal products, or you can go to websites like halalcosmetics.com.
