no we don't celebrate holidays or birthdays
we don't celebrate Christmas because Jesus' birthday wasnt on December 25th because in The Bible that Jesus' birthday was 6 months before his death and he died in April (Easter) so if u go 6 months back its sometime in october
we don't do Halloween because witches would put on costumes and masks to scare away demons and bad spirits so practically Halloween was the devils holiday and those witches would do devil worship
we don't do Thanksgiving because that was just made up by a philadelphian woman after the civil war to unify the states and the woman told Lincoln about it and he made it a national holiday
we don't celebrate new years because the Romans worshiped the Roman god Mercury during that time
we don't do valentines day because the Romans worship the Roman god and goddess of love Cupid and Venus
we don't do st. patricks day because tat was the memorial of an Irish catholic saints death. so technically idol wrship
we celebrate he memorial of Jesus' death in April becuaes Jesus said in the bible "Do this in remembrance of me" Luke 22:19 and Easter was meant to celebrate his death but somehow the Easter bunny got shoved in and basicially its mocking Jesus
we don't do 4th oof July because that's a celebration of war victory and we don't believe in war (we believe that the world should be united as one and it should not be divided and fighting, we believe Jehovah (God) is the ruler of mankind, not man itself) that's also why we don't get involved in politics
we don't do birthdays because in ancient Rome and Greece on a birthday, they would worship the goddess of birth Hera (Juno)
and your probably wondering well some of tat is stuff done 1,000s of years ago we don't mean it like that now
"So Pilate entered into the govenor's palace again and called Jesus and said to him: "Are you the king of the Jews?" Jesus answered: "Is it of your own originality that you say this, or did others tell you about me?" Pilate answered: " I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered you up to me. What did you do? Jesus answered: " My kingdom is no part of this world. If my kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought that i should not be delivered up to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not from this source." John 18:33-36
Yes, Jehovah's Witnesses have no objection to festivals as long as they do not display or support unchristian principles. Many participate in music or art and crafts festivals as well as other cultural festivals. They do not celebrate or participate in religious festivals or festivals with pagan origins.
No, there are not necessarily festivals for Jehovah Witnesses. I am one, and we as a congreation invite other congreation members for a barbeque, or just for a game of soccer. We do this often, and it is quite enjoyable. We might have a party when someone get's baptised, though, and give them gifts.
But there is a day we must remember. The day Jesus died. Others may know this as Easter, but we don't celebrate Easter. Even though we don't have festivals or celebrations, we get presents for random sometimes, and since it's a surprise, it's more fun that way. I don't mind if there isn't festivals or celebrations.
Witnesses have annual holidays from work but do not normally celebrate religious and political celebrations such as Xmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Veterans Day, Remembrance Sunday, Martin Luther King Day etc.
Of course! While Jehvoah's witnesses do not celebrate holloween or major holidays, they do celebrate weddings, anneverseries and the coming of a newborn, like baby showers. They throw going away and coming back parties. And nearly every sunday, go out to eat with each other.
Contact your local kingdom hall, or jehovah's witnesses close by for more information.
If you mean holidays, no. We do not celebrate Christmas, Halloween, Valentines day, St, patricks day, or others. We do have a gathering during the memorial of Jesus Christs death though.
Does any religion?
It is possible to celebrate almost any occasion, such as getting a new job or passing exams or getting baptised, but not the 'traditional' ones such as birthdays, Christmas and Easter etc. Most if not all occasions have some pagan, religious or nationalistic background that Witnesses try and avoid.
Jehovah's Witnesses only have one religious celebration, that of the Lord's evening meal (or last supper). On a personal level they celebrate any joyous occassion that is not connected with false worship. Jehovah's Witnesses thus celebrate marriages, births, graduations and any other number of occassions.
Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate holidays that they believe do not fit true Christianity. These include Christmas, Easter, and even birthdays. The Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Christ did not command his birth - or any birth - to be celebrated; he just wanted his death to be remembered.
Yes, Jehovah's Witnesses have no objections to any celebration so long as it does not have pagan or false religious origins.
Nowhere. Jehovah's Witnesses follow both explicit bible law AND implicit scriptural principle. The selection of holiday parpicipation is principally the latter.
If your question is related to the child of one of Jehovah's Witnesses it should be noted that Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate birthdays and so it is unlikely that the parents of the child will concent to any 'celebrations' in the regard.
Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate any kind of Mass. Mass is a Catholic observance. We are not Catholic. So whether it be Christ - mas; or a Daily Mass; we do not observe them. Please see additional Wiki link below.
Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate holidays such as Christmas, Easter, and birthdays because they believe these celebrations have pagan origins and are not supported by the Bible. They focus on commemorating events such as the Memorial of Christ's death instead.
Seventh-Day Adventists do celebrate Christmas. Many seem to confuse them with Jehovah's Witnesses who will not celebrate Christmas or any other holiday because they believe they are Pagan.
Since Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate birthdays, you would use the same greeting that you do any other day of the week.
Jehovah's Witnesses do indeed celebrate things. They have no objection to celebrating births, anniversaries, weddings and any other celebration that does not have pagan or religious significance.Jehovah's Witnesses only observe one RELIGIOUS celebration: ''There is only one celebration that the Bible instructs Christians to observe, and that is the memorial of Jesus' own death'' Awake 22nd Feb 1970 p28.
