- Yes they can and they do quite often. God officiated over the first wedding with Adam and Eve, because there was no one else as yet. There is every good reason to celebrate weddings. As a Jehovah's Witness I have attended many of my friends' wedding receptions and the parties as well. Marriage is something honourable in God's eyes. and we also celebrate wedding anniversaries. so it isn't something which is condemned.
