No. Like most other Christian denominations, Orthodox Christian dogma and scripture is silent on this subject.
Hinduism is the religion which discusses the souls in all animals "down to the tiniest insect", in its scriptures.
Actually, Christians do believe animals have souls, but souls respective to their animal nature. A soul is the "animus" of a living being, that is, the animating principle or life force. There are vegetative souls, animal souls and human souls. Christians believe, in accordance with natural philosophy, that human souls are unique in that they have the faculties of intellect and will. These faculties are the immortal faculties, giving the soul an indestructible nature since it is capable of having spiritual concepts, interaction and a spiritual destiny. A human soul can exist without a human body because of its spiritual faculties. An animal soul is unable to survive once separated from the physical body. The life force, when spent, simply ceases to exist. An animal has its immediate purpose in its current manifestation which it fulfills throughout its natural life. ======================================================= The Bible does not instruct us as to beliefs about souls of animals. Personally it seems cruel if they are like family members and our close companions but must not be allowed to accompany us to heaven. I think they DO have souls and love and compassion.
The Church believes that all animals also have souls but they are not immortal souls as man has. In other words, once the animal dies, so does its soul.
well i believe that most animals have souls too. if you believe in reincarnation then you may believe plants do too, but no not only humans. anything that has emotion has a soul.
Most Christians do not believe animals have a 'spirit' (component) rather they are living 'souls' (breathe of life) like mankind is. But mankind does have a 'spirit' in him that allows him to link to his Creator.
No, Orthodox Christians only pray FOR the dead, ie. they offer prayers for the memory of departed souls, as in Proverbs 10:7 which says "the memory of the righteous is blessed..." However, Deuteronomy 18:11 refers to people who conjure up spells, such as mediums, witches and clairvoyants. Doing this is not permitted in the Orthodox Church.
They are saving people's souls.
The concept of a soul is largely subjective and based on individual beliefs. Many people believe that animals, including dogs, have unique spirits or energies that are sacred and deserving of respect and love.
Christians believe that Christ rose from the dead and they believe that souls will be resurrected to be judged by Jesus in the final days of this world's existence.
Some people believe that all animals have souls. I myself believe they do. If you are asking if black cats are possessed by ghosts? No, they are not.
Because when we were kids, we used to talk to them, and interact with them, as if they were alive, and some people believe that stuffed animals can be, let's say, a gateway, or storage area, for lost spirits
Most of India is populated by Hindus. Hindus believe that human souls can sent into other bodies after the death of the first body it was in. Souls can be sent into any body, even animals, that is why most animals are found sacred in the Hindu religion.
Most in Russia consider themselves Eastern Orthodox Christians, though some are non- practicing. There are also a lot of Jewish people, atheists, and muslims in Russia. Born again Christianity is taking hold in some of the souls in Russia.
