Several sociological surveys into this area of practice among that particular

community have revealed, perhaps surprisingly, that some do, while others

don't. But in general among the Orthodox community at large ... perhaps

connected somehow with the fifth "commandment", it's difficult to tell ...

Orthodox Jews do tend to maintain an elevated level of contact, celebration,

and 'honor' of their mothers, whether or not it happens to coincide with any

particular date on the commercial marketing calendar.

Most Jews join in the celebration of the secular events marked publicly by the surrounding culture in whatever country they find themselves, although there are many Jews who carefully and completely separate themselves from any such practices. In the US, the recognition of Father's Day and Mother's Day are uniquely comfortable occasions for Jews, for whom the mitzvah of "Honor your Father and your mother ..." holds such authentic religious significance.

There is no Halakhah on the matter, its like asking if Jews celebrate Superbowl Sunday. Those who want to, do, and those who don't, are not violating Halakhah.
