With a British accent.
Yes they do.
There is actually no such thing as a British accent. There is an English accent, a Scottish accent, an Irish accent, or a Welsh accent. These are generally spoken within their own countries (English in England, Scottish in Scotland, etc.). However, people all over the world may have a breed of a British accent because either they are immigrants themselves or they picked it up from their family.
British people and English people are really the same because England (the name most familiar to me) is called by a number of different names; e.g. UK (United Kingdom) , England, Great Britain, Britain, etc.
A south of England accent
Everyone has a different accent in different countries. England is like America the different places you go you get different accents there not all the same. For instance an individual can have a Essex accent which is different to the London accent. Also, other accents are Lester accent or a Manchester accent a Nottingham accent a Scottish a Welsh accent and a Hull accent.
There are many "English" accents from England. Scots and Welshmen are not from England, so would have their own accents, which again differ from place to place. That said, just as often people from elsewhere often accidentally say "England" when they mean "Britain" and vice versa, an English and British accent is often used to mean the same thing, a relatively posh accent from South-East England.
No they have an Irish accent.
The English refers only to the people of England. The Scots take great exception to being called English, the Welsh don't like it, either, nor do the people of Northern Ireland. So you were right and the person who corrected you was wrong. For the inhabitants of the United Kingdom as a whole it's common to use the word British.
There are actually several different British accents. Think of the United States. People from New York and Alabama have different accents even though they're from the same country.
Overall, people in Brazil do not have a British accent. The official language in Brazil is Portuguese, and thus the majority of people speak with a Portuguese accent. However, due to global influences, some Brazilians may speak English with a British accent if they have been exposed to that dialect.
