It depends what you do with them. If you eat avocados instead of ice cream, then this could help you to lose weight. But if you eat an excessive number of avocados, then they too can be fattening. Almost anything is fattening if you eat enough of it. The only exception is celery. No matter how much celery you eat (without dip) it will never make you fat. Of course, celery is very boring. Avocados are much tastier (if they are ripe - make sure the skin turns black before you eat them).
