Baptist as a denomination is made of autonomous churches, each made of individuals seeking out their own salvation as encouraged by Paul in The Bible. Old Testament laws had capital punishment and it was not addressed in the New Testament. The New Testament does encourage us all to have love and to express God's love to our fellowmen. The topic of capital punishment is not only a personal one but one of political consequence. Personally I am scared of capital punishment because I would never want to condemn someone to death and find out later that the person was not guilty of the crime of which he was condemned. Yet, I have not and probably will not fight against the law.

What does the church teach about the issues of capital punishment?

The church does not teach about the issues of capital punishment because of the separation of church and state This only applies in the US. There are no such limitations in Australia, for example, where many churches state in their teachings that no person has the right to take the life of another (except in issues of war). However, churches differ in their views on this, and there is no hard and fast rule that applies across the board.

What church was first Baptist or Episcopal?

Answer 1:Baptist. Jesus was baptized by John the "Baptist". "Baptist" is the only denominatio mentioned in the Bible. Answer 2:No denomination is mentioned in the Bible. The term "Baptist" is used in the Bible to describe what John did, not his "denomination". Baptists also make an interesting claim to being the first church based on Christ's commission as outlined in Matthew 28, when He said, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost." Jesus commissioned this as an act, not as a church. Many Baptists trace their lineage to John the Baptist, but this is not correct. In fact, there was no specific church at that time except for the Jewish faith. Baptists and episcopals both came out of the same protestant movement sparked by Martin Luther, which came out of Luther's objections to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.Essentially, the episcopal church came first, arising as it did out of the church of England (later "Anglican church"), around the year 1538 when the Church of England separated from the Roman catholic Church. All other protestant churches followed after that, and the Baptists can certainly be included in the Protestant churches. Quite simply: there was no true "Baptist" church prior to the Reformation, though there were many groups that worshipped in secret, for fear of reprisal.

What is the role of reward and punishment in learning?

Rewards and punishments play a crucial role in learning by reinforcing desired behaviors and discouraging undesirable behaviors. Rewards serve as positive reinforcement, increasing the likelihood of a behavior being repeated, while punishments act as a form of negative reinforcement, decreasing the likelihood of a behavior occurring again. Together, they help individuals learn to associate consequences with their actions, shaping future behavior.

Do you allow a man to be ordained or preach in your organization with 3 living wives for United or Southern Baptist churches?

Speaking for Southern Baptist churches... The Southern Baptist Convention has instituted in The Baptist Faith & Message that all leaders of the church (pastors, deacons, etc.) shall be the husband of one wife as quoted in 1 Timothy 3. That is one of the many differences between Baptists & Mormons/Church of Latter Day Saints. == 2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach... 12Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
