The black fox, (also known as a silver fox) is actually the red fox (vulpes fulva) during one of its colour changing stages, of which there are the red fox stage, the cross fox stage and the black or silver fox stage. Since red foxes are in abundance in Ontario they will be too if you can find one within that stage.
