Do abs brake leave skid marks on icy road conditions?
ABC brakes will leave skid marks during icy road conditions because of its slippery nature. ABS keeps brakes from locking up but does not prevent tires from sliding on ice.

Yes... a vehicle with abs brakes will leave skid marks. Unfortunately they are not what you are used to seeing. They will appear faint and gaped (like a stone skipping across the water), the best way to view them are from a distance and close to the ground. Most cars these days have ABS (Antilock Brake System) and they won't leave a skid mark. The speed will be determined by drag from road surface and how efficient the brakes were working. A 100 foot skid on average would be from a speed of 45-50mph on asphalt.

Because humans do not have the ability to brake and release sufficiently fast enough to stop and not skid. ABS removes this problem. Just stomp on the brake and let the electronics worry about how to do it.

How do you correct a skid?
If you are skidding sideways, turn into the skid. That is, if the back of the vehicle is trying to go left, turn left, if the back is going right, turn right. Stay off the brakes during the skid until you are staightened out.If you are skidding forwards and the vehicle is straight, and your ABS is working, leave the brakes on and let it work. If you don't have ABS or it's not functioning, let off the brakes and pump them.
