Ferrets like cold weather, and is comfortable in cooler temperatures. A ferret will probably enjoy playing outdoors in the snow. Some ferrets like going outdoors, some don't. If your ferret doesn't go outside, but you want to see if he'll like the snow, gather some in a plastic container, and bring it into the house. Let him explore the snow, he may have not like it or he may have a great time tunneling and digging. Each ferret has it's own personality and will have his own likes and dislikes. How long a ferret can stay outside depends, such as age, health and weather. A Young ferret will probably want to stay outside longer than an older ferret. Ferrets with health problems should only stay outside for a few minutes. A ferret can play outside in the snow for about 30 to 60 minutes. An older ferret, or one in poor health, should stay no more than 5 to 10 minutes outside at a time. Bring them inside if they are shivering too much, start pawing at the door, or climbing up into your coat. If the temperature is below freezing (32° F) or is icy, limit his outdoor time. If the weather is excessively windy or cold, save the outing for another day.
Ferrets natural habitat is a cooler one, so it won't hurt them. I have let mine out to play in the snow lots of times. Just remember, they aren't fully bundled up like you are! So, under 20 minutes is probably a good idea!
