Stupid question, depends on type of speialty, level of experience and public vs private practice.

1st yr out interns (med) or dents earn base rate approx $60,000 in Australia although this varies between states. Dr's can expect approx 30% more to base rate for weekend/afternoon/night time loading and overtime.

Consultant salaries in public health range from $130-300k in public sector for specialist Dr's who can once again expect more for overtime and weekend loading in addition to private patients who may be admitted under them.

Private sector can range depending on services (med vs surg) and specialty ie cardiology is very procedural based doing PCI etc. A private cardiologist can earn upwards of $1,000,000 so can many surgeons.

Dentists on a public contract earn approx $130-180k but majority are in private practice and have associate dents working for them. Hence the sky is the limit depending on how crooked the practice is and how many junior associates are employed. This is very similar for GP practices for GP practice owners and junior GP's employed etc.

So the short answer to your question is more money is available in the med field however it requires additional 4-8yrs of specialist training and further study/exams etc. Dentists can practice after their basic BDsc is completed, unless they further specialise as oral or max fax surgeons.

Do dentist make more money than orthodontist?

No. Dentist do a ton of different things and orthodontists do one specific thing which is straightening teeth. That's one reason why people confuse of which gets paid more. You have to take 2-3 years to specialize as an ortho so it would just be common that they'd make more money. Some dentists DO make more money then them, though. Just get a lot of experiance and know what your doing. Orthodontists can make anywhere from 500,000 annually to 1,000,000 annually. Dentists make around 142,226 annually. But remember that the more experiance you get, the more money you get. Both jobs will increase with experiance so don't start to believe that dentists have a low salary. Though dentists salary are pretty low COMPARED TO ORTHOS, dentists DO make a lot of money. You'll be in a comfortable state of mind without worry that your money will shorten. (: hope it helped.

Do architects make a lot of money?

During the 3 years internship after graduation intern architects can make about 35000 to 50000 a year, after gaining a license this can jump between $ 60 to $ 70 thousand as a regular architect, working in residential or commercial building design, with time a regular architect may earn up to $ 110 000. These are basically earnings for architects employed within companies. Various architects may specialize in healthcare facility design, or very specific building design such as marine , ship or aerospace design and work for associations like NASA, typically senior architects with such specialties may earn up to 160 000 or more. Employed architects' income may also depend on different type of certification, for example gaining a green design LEED certification may open up the doors for more income, some architects seek MBA degrees, and specialize in project management and gain PMP Certification, and etc..., usually architects employed at large companies may receive may benefits like profit sharing and medical insurance. These numbers are rough estimates based on tax reports, self employed architects however usually earn a lot more, but building a design firm is a rough thing, as expenses overtake income at the beginning. Some architects manage to design and become building contractors at the same time, or even real estate developers, the construction industry may offer a lot of income in general and there are many ways to get there.
