∙ 14y agoYes they make good pets. They are usually child friendly and obedient, but if you have cats and are thinking about adopting an ex-racer, don't because they will chase the cats because they look a bit like the fake rabbit that they are made to chase on the track.
Oh yeah, greyhounds do not molt much.
And if you don't have cats, then please do adopt an ex-racer, because there are loads of them all needing a home.
And it is cheaper to adopt a greyhound rather than buying one.

The answer to this question depends, because if you bring it up badly then its going to be a horrible dog but if you do bring it up well then it will do what you say if it learns and if it doesnt you either are too soft on the dog or you haven't brought it up well!!! Just show the dog who is boss!

∙ 12y agoThe type of pet you get really depends on where you live. Any dog needs room to play outside. Also, getting a larger dog breed could be expensive, if you consider food, vet visits, and possibly grooming. Plus, dogs LOVE toys ! In my opinion, a Greyhound would be great for someone who wants a gentle, intelligent, and loyal dog. Greyhounds are also very good for a family. They aren't aggressive dogs and they hardly ever bark. They enjoy company, so make sure to pay attention to them, or have another dog for them to play with. Greyhounds are very friendly and warm up to people well.

∙ 14y agoYes, I believe if they are over 4 years old. Greyhounds have some tolerance, but not that much. The reason I would say no child under 4 is that the child may pull on the ears, try and steal their food while they're eating, etc.

∙ 15y agoGreyhounds are fun loving, and are the sweetist dog. They are VERY good around people and their surroundings. Some have a problem with cats though, because on the race track, they used things that looked like cats. You would also need a big backyard so they could run around, and a fence because they can escape and they run like crazy when thaey get out. But I love greyhounds since I have one myself and everyone loves her too.

∙ 12y agoYes greyhounds are very smart. They actually know their way home if you've had them for long enough! I used to have a greyhound and she ran off in the park. Later on in the day we found her on her way home! This proves that greyhounds are extremely intelligent dogs.
