Let us take this question from a genetic and scientific standpoint.
The notion that homosexuality is caused by a "gay gene" is a weak theory and has yet to be fully supported by scientists. If homosexuality was caused by a gene, that gene would have to be passed on to cause the phenotype (homosexuality) to show. Since homosexuals do not usually breed to produce offspring, then that gene is not being passed on. As a result, the homosexual population would die out. Clearly, this is not the case so it is evident that homosexuality is not caused exclusively by a gene.
The theory accepted by many scientists is the idea of homosexuality being caused by the balance of intrauterine hormones during pregnancy. This is a biological factor as opposed to an exclusive genetic factor. Because homosexuality is determined as a mutually exclusive event, it will not result in the population dying out.
