I don't know. but I have just found an opened pack of Tesco Red Leicester cheese buried in my compost heap. There was mould on one end of the cheese, but I would have cut that off and used the rest. I assume someone more fussy than me put it in their rubbish bag and an animal got to it before the dustmen.

PS I have also found a bumble bee nest in the compost, so I will not be investigating further!

Foxes do bury food. The eat what they need and if anything is left they bury it so they can save it for later.

Yes they do, foxes dig burrows to act as homes. Sometimes they may also use burrows dug by other animals such as badgers

Wolves do not usually bury their food, they consume it all at once. Dogs bury their food, but wolves usually don't.

Yes - I put cooked chicken out and sat up and watched the fox eat its fill and then bury the surplus in different parts of my garden!

Yes, they do. We found some of their leftovers in our flower garden. We heard them out back on Friday night. Now we know what they were doing in our backyard! Yuk!
