No they do not, I have a female and she has lived alone for 2years now, and she is perfectly happy how she is :) Hope this helps. :)
Some gerbils can live alone but some can not. Some gerbils live shorter lives without a cage buddy.
yes
Yes! If they continue to fight put them in a diffrent cage for a few hours, 5 or 6, then put them together again. They will make up because they were lonely. I have 9 gerbils it works. :)
not very big because i have 2 gerbils and my cage is small
gerbils mostly live in pairs or small groups so it depends on the size of the cage and if the gerbils know each other
No. You should leave the new gerbils, mother and father together. If the parents seem to be harming their children you can take the one harming and separate it using the split cage method.
clean the cage out and the food.
Buy another cage and put them next to each other
yes, gerbils like to live in groups like a meerkat in australia. if the cage is big enough, if u have a small cage they will get territorial
I would get your gerbil checked out by the veterinarian, it might have mites, or an irritation to something in its cage.
Yes but u would have to get them at the same age and from the same family of gerbils
Put them in a quiet preferably warm room. Remove any other gerbils from the cage.
Gerbils are actually used to living with at least 2-3 cage mates in some cases they can die because of boredom or a lonely heart. When they are unoccupied they will eat and sleep or began to plan escape by jumping. Also gerbils live together in order to warn one another of danger and sleep together for warmth in the winter. When alone they believe that they are at risk of predators as if in the wild (this fear/shock could lead to hear attacks.
