For the most part they are solitary. They do however congregate in areas where food (seals and whale carcasses especially) is plentiful. They ofcourse also come in contact for mating though this has never been observed or recorded by humans. During the times they are in close contact with one another they have been observed "getting along" with one another though there is a feeding hierarchy from biggest to smallest and some specimens exhibit wounds that could only be from other white sharks.

They normally travel alone. It is very unusual to travel in packs. Look back at the 1916 attacks in New Jersey. One shark did it. That was the great white. It chewed up 6 people in one week. Mattawan Creek, and the ocean were where everyone got atacked. All were fatal except for one lucky little boy. The docors saved his legs and could walk again. I believe they travel alone because it is a dominance thing.

Generally, no, Great White's do not live in groups. Occasionally they may travel in pairs but they are on the whole, solitary creatures.
