I imagine it could have some major digestive problems which could kill it... A lot of things can kill a hamster. Hamsters die from a stiff breeze.
Apart from the fact that you're not supposed to disturb your hamster when it's sleeping or eating, normally a hamster would bite if you did that. It might be that your hamster is simply not aggressive at all, or on the other hand it could be that it's too weak to defend itself because it's ill. It would be best to take the hamster to the vet's just in case to see there's nothing wrong with it.
I say go by the weight of the hamster, or less.
he was very stiff from working out too much. she was stiff from sitting too long. i was stiff from sleeping.....ect,ect.

Many things make you stiff, like walking too much, sleeping on the wrong side, and others.
