I have a pebble tec pool and the people living here before we bought it didnt take care of it and theres white crap all over the pool and my guess its calcium any ideas how to get it off myself?
If it is under water, it is most likely a build up of alkalinity. An acid wash will be necessary to remove it. Pebble Tec does not recommend an acid wash because there is the potential for loosening the pebbles. But there is no other alternative except replacing the Pebble Tec. Shop around for a person that is experienced with acid washing Pebble Tec. Maybe ask your friends or a pool store for recommendations. If tech is careful, your pool should be fine. If you have a white line around the top of the water (either on tile or the Pebble Tec itself), that will be a calcium buildup. Pebble Tec recommends professional cleaning with magneseium sulfate (brand name MaxxStrip). They do not endorse using glass beads.

What compares to pebbletec technologies?
Pebble Technology, Inc. is the original pebble pool interior finish, started in the US over 20 years ago. There are over a dozen knock-offs on the market today, but none with the quality control, ongoing training, or level of experience as a Pebble Tec(r) applicator. There are approximately 55 companies licensed to install Pebble Tec/Pebble Sheen/Pebble Fina across the country.
How do you repair cracks in the pebble tec around the pool and hot tub?
First of all have you found the cause? Pebble tec cracks because either it doesn't get a good bond to the shotcrete or the shotcrete is cracking underneath the pebble. Cracks found in pebble tec must be patched with pebble patch or caulking. To perform a patch that you care about blending with the existing pebble takes a great deal of experience. Great results are possible but not likely until you have made several patches. Also one of the common issues with pebble tec cracking is not so much the material, but rather how much pebble tec is applied to a certain area of the pool/spa. For example, pool steps tend to get more material applied on the transition/curveof the step tread and having too much material can cause a delamination after time. Most rolled bond beams being exposed to the outdoor elements will experience bond failure in time. Most cracks can be repaired by the average homeowner with a little bit of handy skills and pebble patch kit.

What is the best type of vacuum to use on a pebble tec pool?
Is Pebbletec or Quartz better for the pool's surface?
Is pebble tech the best pool surface?
pebble-tec The short answer is...it depends. It depends on your needs and your family situation. If you have children, especially younger ones, I would not recommend pebble tec. The biggest issue with pebble-tec is that it is very rough. Where do young kids spend a great deal of time in the pool? Hanging on the edge. Now think what they are doing with their feet. They're walking up the side or paddling on the side which will shred their feet. If you have a tanning shelf or play area, you will have to either submerge a towel or they will have to wear clothing to protect their knees. Another issue of pebble-tec is that the creaveces can prove difficult to clean of alge. If it is the color you are looking for, most companys can tint the plaster, and you can still have the smooth surface. Hope this helps. I disagree. I have two children who run and jump continuosly in our Pebbletec pool/spa. Notice I said spa. No one comes out bleeding or sore. If so, I would rip it out. If there is a rough area due to improper application, the installer can come out with a diamond buffing pad and buff the area down. If given the chance to truly learn about the original Pebbletec and not an imitation, one will learn the stones come from river, glacial, and beach deposits where nature has done the majority of the tumbling. Don't be fooled by texture. And just for the record, Pebble Tec does come in 3 different textures should one be opting for a different look. The other two are called Pebble Sheen and Pebble Fina. I love my Pebble Tec finish. --- The biggest problem with Pebble Tec is the customer. First, the installer of the Pebble Tec HAS to be a "Certified Installer" through the manufacturer. Other installers can purchase Pebble Tec or even cheaper imitations, and will install it for a cheaper price. What you get is a product that cut's your feet, is rough, stains, etc. Taking the time and spending the money will get you the results that most people have. A quality, durable and long lasting finish that is smooth and beautiful. Don't use a inferior product, don't use the cheapest bidder and you'll be fine.--
Has anyone ever used mosaic tiles on the sides or steps of a pool with a Pebble Sheen finish?
Compare pebble tech pebble sheen and ultra poz pool interiors in cost warranty ease of cleaning and helping to keep the pool water warm?
Pebble sheen is usually the most expensive per square ft. is smoother than Pebble tec because the size of the pebble is smaller. Pebble tec is close in price to Pebble sheen is not as smooth as sheen but has better longevity because the larger pebbles stay in tact longer. Ultra poz is less expensive than Pebble is smoother than sheen. warranties depend on the company you choose but here in Phoenix I am seeing similar warranties on all three. A smooth surface is easier to clean but a darker color may not show the dirt like a white surface will. The darker the color the warmer the water.
What can you use to clean a pebble tec flooring that will kill bacteria and bring the shine back?

Which is the longest lasting below ground pool finish?
The ultimate longest lasting interior finish in any shotcrete ( cement ) pool, is tile. It is also astronomical in cost but if the grout is maintained properly, it will be beautiful for the next 50 years. Second would be " Pebble Tec " yes, the brand name Pebble Tec. There are many duplicates called, River stone, pebble stone etc but if it does not say precisely Pebble Tec then its nothing but a cheap snake oil salesmans rip off . Pebble Tec is small stones that have no sharp corners like the rip off brands. They combine a mix of white portland cement and stone and " shoot " it on the interior of your pool via a truck mounted pump. Pebble Sheen is also a good product, again, Pebble Tec Brand name. This is nothing more the even smaller stones togive you a smoother finish but the Pebble Tec finish is fine. I have had Soft White Pebble Tec in my pool fo 10 years and it looks like the day they put it in. I live in Arizona so yes, I literally bomb it with chemicals 5 months a year due to the extreme heat and sunshine and it has performed superbly. Next up would be some sort of quartz and plaster mixture. Quartz is hard but alas, its still in the plaster family and will most definitely stain and deteriorate a lot faster then the pebble products mentioned. Last and certainly on the bottom of the list is plaster. Marble dust and white portand cement and a few other products thrown in to hold it together and attempt to keep it white and on the wall of the pool. Very attractive when new. The marble dust gives the pool its " blue " look but like I said, it will not stay that way too long. Especially if you live in an area with Hard water. Plaster deteriorates fast, discolors even faster and shows every stain known to man and some that are not know to man :) Not recommended for the Southwest.
Florida pools what is the best type of pool?
in ground pool with a pebble tec finish life time warranty Concrete structure. Exposed aggregate finish. Pebble tec is virtually indestructable but rough on the feet. Forget about a "Life time warranty". The warranty is only as good as the company that builds the pool. In my thirty years in the biz. I'v seen many dozens of co.s' go out of biz. BE CAREFUL!!
