Yes, the male ferret or Hob's breeding season is in the early spring and summer when the testicles enlarge and descend into the scrotum, the rest of the year the testicles are out of sight. If a hob is trying to breed and the testicles have not descended, the sperm will be infertile.

How do male hamsters attract a female hamster?

Female ferrets have seasons. And in those seasons, it's not really about the male "attracting" the female. It principally involves the male ferret leaping on the back of the female ferret, biting her neck so as to hold her in place, and consummating the "relationship".

When do male ferrets go into heat?

Male ferrets (and mammals) don't really ever go into heat seeing as they don't have a uterus and can't go through their menses. However, male ferrets will become more aggressive when around a female in heat. Especially when that female is another ferret.

How does the black footed ferret find his or her mate?

Ferrets are solitary animals and are only together during breeding season, which they locate each other through smell. Male and female ferrets have a much stronger body odor during breeding season to attract each other. After mating they go separate ways. The female raises the kits by herself. The male has no role is raising the family.

Why do ferrets need to be nuetered?

Female ferrets need to be neutered to prevent them from developing aplastic anaemia, an unpleasant and usually fatal condition suffered by female ferrets who don't mate. It can also be prevented by allowing them to mate with a vasectomised male (as opposed to a neutered male), but these can be hard to find. Another way is with a "Jill jab," a hormone injection administered by a veterinary surgeon. There is some evidence that the Jill jab is the best way as it's less likely to lead to health complications than neutering. Male ferrets need to be neutered because if they're not, during mating season they become very stinky sex pests.

Can female ferrets be kept together?

They can get along, but they don't get along as well as two male ferrets. Female ferrets, after they get spayed, are much more territorial than before they get spayed. If you are thinking of getting two ferrets, I suggest getting one male and one female. Of course, you should get them spayed and neutered, first.

Why do ferrets smell?

The ferrets smell is a musk odor that comes from the skins glands that secretes oils. Unaltered ferrets produce more oils during breeding season, making them smell more. Ferrets also have an anal sac that they can expel when frightened or threaten, most ferrets in the US have the anal sac surgically removed.
