Interesting question! Yes, we like to know why people are abusive and that applies particularly to men. Are men the way they are because they hate their mother? Or maybe they witnessed their father abuse their mother and imitate that relationship? This leaves all men off the hook. This excuses them from making their own judgments. It allows them to witness parental abuse and accept that abuse without judgment. It assumes that whatever we experience in life is "a priori" acceptable.
