Very rarely the catholic church and rich establishment cover these cases up. There is no official proscess of dealing with them in the vatican. No Pope has recognised that their priests do this. Even if they do get convicted which is rare they rarely get jail maybe suspension which is also rare. Kept in the community to potentually destroy more lives! Brainwashed catholic communities support the priest anyway-even give money etc (certainly here in Ireland anyway) How does this make the victim feel!! AS PRESENTLY PRACTICED IN THE US FOR DIOCESAN PRIESTS At the Dallas Conference of Bishops, in the US, an agreement was reached that: as soon as an ALLEGATION was made against a priest / woman or male religious / or any individual working for the Catholic Church in any capacity whatsoever that individual is to immediately removed by the diocesan bishop, and the case reported to the District Attorney. The accused individual must absorb all legal and court costs. Civil trials against the person in question are held, and the individual must serve any sentence imposed by the court. If there is no evidence, and the case seems to be spurious the case is dismissed by the civil authorities. Many bishops, however, have been refusing to accept the "tainted" priest (etc.) back into active ministry. The priest, his identity now known to the public, by the newspaper reports, has the right to petition Rome and a church trial requesting reinstatement the diocese will provide a canon lawyer to the pries to help in the procedure. The policy in many diocese in the US is that a priest from a foreign country can not be accepted for active ministry until that priest's local bishop signs a letter of good standing, with the understanding that the foreign diocese will absorb all court costs, and immediately remove the priest from the diocese in which he was accepted.
