Well, just printing a picture does not save it to the computer. When you try to exit the program you want to exit without saving what you printed (if you hadn't already saved it before, or have made a change and did not save it), it will ask you if you want to save the changes you made to it. You can either press 'save' and choose where to save it, press 'don't save' to not have it save, or press 'cancel' to not exit the program or save it.

∙ 11y agoI assume you're talking about viewing images on-line. The full-size picture isn't saved - but - there is a 'thumb-nail' saved which is a smaller version of the larger picture. The thumb-nail also stores details of the file's location on the web, so it can be found quickly.
