Originally, pitbulls were bread for a sport called "Baiting the Bull" in which the dog would grab onto the bull's nose and people would bet on how long the dog would hold on. Because of this breeding, and their original purpose, they have been stigmatized. Pitbull are viewed as being these demon dogs... the ultimate attack dog for protecting the property of drug dealers and other criminals. The truth is, the way people act around pitbulls qite often gets them excited and their reaction is often misconstrued as aggressive. A well treated pitbull is no more likely to attack than any other dog.

They are just like any other dogs except they look different. They were not bred to "bait the bull" but to take down large prey like bears with hunters. they do not have lock jaw but they do have an instinct to pull at everything you let them.

No. No bulls nor rodeo bulls bite. They're not like horses, they would rather use their horns or hooves to cause injury than use their teeth. They don't have upper incisors so biting wouldn't have much effect on their offenders.

What makes a pitbull's bite worse than most dog bites?

Original answer: "what makes there bites worse is because they have really strong jaws and they tend to lock on to whatever there biting and they cant let go sometimes" Better answer: Pit bulls DO NOT have a locking mechanism in their jaw structure. This is a physical/anatomical impossibility. Pit bulls have been bred for their "tenacity", which means being tough, tireless, or unwilling to give up easily. Remember that pit bulls are terriers. All terriers, regardless of shape or size, are known and bred for their fearlessness.
