It depends on the snake. Garter snakes and garden snakes eat them but otherwise they probably won't. You could try to put a couple in the cage and see if they will eat it. If they don't then you should feed them something else. Like mice.

They definitely eat crickets because that's what they normally eat in the wild (if their not in restaurants or indoors somewhere). However, its not recommended to make their diet entirely consist of crickets, you should incorporate the regular stuff as well like seeds and nuts etc. Live (maybe even dead) crickets are good protein, and the live crickets stimulate their hunt and catching behavior. :)
