Yes.
Um.... aren't all dogs soft. The answer is yes!
Yes, I have a wheaten terrier and he likes to swim.
The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier does not shed in the Spring and Fall, but loose hair should be combed out of the coat from time to time. A well groomed dog will shed very little. This breed is good for allergy suffers. So yes, they do shed, except for in the Spring and Fall.

Soft coated Wheaton Terriers can live on average 12-15 years.
Well it mostly matters on how smart the breed is. You would need to know how easy it is to teach your dog to sit, stay, ect. If their good at that and they learned it easily, it will most likely be easy to potty train them
Certain dog breeds are considered "non-shedding" or low-shedding, meaning they don't cast or shed fur like others. Breeds such as Poodles, Bichon Frises, and Maltese are known for their minimal shedding, as they have hair rather than fur. Additionally, some terriers, like the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier, have a coat that requires regular grooming but doesn't shed much. However, it's essential to note that all dogs will lose some hair, but these breeds typically produce less dander and hair overall.
The head is the softest part of the dog.
As you know, all dogs shed some hair, even "hairless" dogs. Some shed less, or have coats that hold the loose hair until it is combed out (such as wire haired breeds and others with double coats-many of the terriers have this feature). Below is a very short list of some bigger dog breeds (starting around 50 pounds standard) who shed less than others:Standard PoodleMost standard poodle mixesKeeshondPortugese water dogBichon friseIrish water spanielIrish Terrier (a bit smaller than 50 pounds)Kerry blue terrierAiredale terrierBasenji (they tend to groom themselves more and therefore the saliva left on their coats from this can cause problems with allergies even though they shed less).KomondorSoft-Coated Wheaton Terrier
We own 2 West Highland Terriers. We enjoy them because they do not shed hair like a German Shepherd or cats. When they get dirty, we put a towel in their cage. Dog comes out clean; towel comes out dirty. We wash our Westies every 2-3 months and can attest to their overall ease of care. They reward you by being wonderful lap dogs and great fun.
Their shells are soft because they start to shed their shells.
