If bad plugs is causing the misfire. It could also be bad plug wires, a vacuum leak, burnt valve, blown head gasket, etc.
Check Spark plugs Check plug wires Do a compression test
Bad idea, replace both spark plugs and wires, using Toyota parts, will increase fuel milage and reliabilty..
If there is a question about it, replace it. They are not terribly expensive. If the plugs are starting to go bad, replace them all. And the spark plugs wires too. An ounce or prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Replace the spark plugs wires and check for vacum leaksAnswerThe most common problem is loose\bad spark plug or wire. If that doesnt fix then it is probably coil going bad. had same problem o2 sel with 220,000km final cure was new coil. Old one was cracked.Hope it helpsAnswerI had the same thing and after checking the coils, spark plugs and wires (all good), there was loss of compression and the valve spring was broken. After fixing this, the engine runned smoothly again.
If you see sparks coming from your spark plugs something is wrong. You could have broken insulation on the wires. You could have broken spark plugs. You could have too much grease and gunk on the wires. If the spark is outside, it is not burning the gas inside the engine and you are sending unburned gasoline out the tailpipe. Tell me which brand of gasoline you are wasting your money on and I will buy stock in the company. The cure is probably new plugs, wires, etc.
Several things can cause your car to stall and shake when you stop. Replacing the spark plugs and spark plug wires may cure the problem.
Question that comes to minds here, is did this car start before the plugs were changed? The mere changing of the spark plugs is not the "miracle cure" for all car starting problems. There are other things like the fuel pump, the starter motor, the battery, the fuel lines, the fuel pump, the fuel injectors, the distributor system, gas in the tank, etc.
C3I ELECTRONIC SPARK TIMING (EST) FAILURE is code 42 timing can be off by a lot of factors check vacume leaks plugs wires etc..
I had this very same problem with my Chevrolet Silverado. The only thing that will cure this problem is replacing all your Oxygen Sensors and running premium fuel.
Absoutely, it may be the culprit of the irregular idle. Start with the simple stuff first: Spark Plugs, then Spark Plug Wires, then Coil Pack, then the IAC Sensor and Throttle Positioning Sensor. If those do not cure issue then it may be fuel related: injectors and/or fuel pump
Check for a loose or cracked gasoline filler cap. Changing the spark plugs is also a common cure. Other than that, take it to a shop for a tuneup. Have it checked for codes and ask a new question with the code number.
If the oil is found outside of the threaded portion of the spark plug, you probably have an external gasket or seal leak. Replacing the faulty gasket or seal would stop that. If the oil is found on the electrode side of the plug, you probably have worn rings and/or bad valve seals. This condition would probably be the result of a high mileage or poorly maintained engine. Rebuilding or replacment would be necessary to properly cure that.
